- One Pump of Syrup
The sugar content in one pump of Starbucks Syrup varies depending on the flavor you choose. A pump of syrup is equal to around a teaspoon and a half of sugar. Some of that syrup is actually water and some of it is the flavoring. But you can pretty much say that a pump of the syrup is about as much as one teaspoon of sugar.
Although Starbucks does have it’s low sugar drinks, you have to specifically order them. Even still I wouldn’t call them “healthy drinks”.
If you’ve ever been to a Starbucks early in the morning, you usually see a bunch of college-age kids, the store seems to cater to this age group although people of any age are welcome. It makes you wonder if it’s the sugar content that most people go far. College kids usually need the pick-me-up of sugar plus caffeine after all!
If you love Starbucks and are a frequent visitor to their establishment but yet you don’t want all of the sugar that these drinks have included in them, order them with less sugar. My absolute favorite is the mocha coffee. I can enjoy my mocha coffee without all of that sugar in it by simply asking for a “hot skinny mocha coffee”.
The baristas at Starbucks can turn almost any of their coffees into a sugar free treat.
There is also the option of making your favorite Starbuck’s coffee at home where you can control how much sugar or syrup goes into it. You can find the recipe or a copycat recipe of all of their famous drinks online. Try making your own as a heathier alternative!
